Religious Services

Policy for Religious services at Islamic Society of Western Massachusetts

The Islamic Society of Western Massachusetts (hereafter called ISWM) is a Sunni Muslim masjid which is open to all Muslims of any denomination and any non-Muslims who are interested in learning about Islam, subject to necessary etiquette and rules being observed.

All religious services can only be conducted by

“The Imam of ISWM or his designate. At present that is Shaikh Mirza Yawar Baig or a person designated by him”.

Other than them, nobody is authorized to conduct any religious service at the ISWM at any time. There are no exceptions to this policy.

Religious services include but are not limited to the five daily prayers (Fardh Salah), Jumu’a Khutba and Salah (Friday Sermon and prayer), Salah Janaza (funeral prayer), Nikah (wedding), Taraweeh and Qiyam in Ramadan, Eid Salah (prayer), and all Halaqaat (religious gatherings), speeches, Khaatira (reminders) or any other religious activities.

All the above and any other, are and will be conducted according to the Way of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama’a (this includes the Madhab of the Four Sunni Imams only i.e., Imams Abu Haneefa, Ash-Shafe’e, Ahmad bin Hanbal and Malik bin Anas – May Allah (SWT) have mercy on them all).

There will be no separate or duplicate service according to sectarian differences. The above policy refers to the formal conduct of religious services which are led by an Imam.

An individual may approach the Imam to clarify any doubts.

For private events: Please refer to the policy for the use of the Community Hall.
